A closer look at Ngorongoro Crater
The descent from the high crater rim opens onto a remarkable mix of grassland, wetland and forest. Ngorongoro is part of a wider conservation area where wildlife, pastoral communities and dramatic highland scenery shape the experience.
A guided drive on the crater floor is the centrepiece of a visit. Look for lions, buffalo, elephants and, with luck, black rhino, while taking time to enjoy the contrast between the open floor and the steep surrounding walls.
