Driving/trekking time: 3–4 hrs.

Leave the rainforest and climb into heath and moorland, crossing open terrain toward the western edge of the Shira Plateau.

Continue across the Shira Plateau at a steady acclimatization pace, with wide views of Kibo and the surrounding highlands.

Ascend toward Lava Tower for valuable altitude exposure, then continue through the high alpine landscape toward the quieter northern side of the mountain.

Traverse remote northern slopes with broad views across the plains toward Kenya, maintaining a measured pace for acclimatization.

Follow the Northern Circuit across open alpine terrain, with a gradual descent that supports recovery before the final ascent stages.

Climb steadily toward the summit base, then complete final equipment checks, hydrate and rest ahead of the midnight summit attempt.

Begin before midnight for the ascent to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 metres. After celebrating at the summit, descend carefully along the southern trail.
