5 Days / 4 Nights Mount Meru Climb

Mount Meru rises to 4,565 metres inside Arusha National Park. This four-day climb follows a dramatic volcanic ridge through montane forest and open heath, with opportunities to encounter giraffe, buffalo, monkeys and abundant birdlife on the lower slopes. The summit route culminates at Socialist Peak, with sweeping views across the crater and toward Mount Kilimanjaro on clear mornings.

The journey begins with arrival and preparation before the mountain ascent. Overnight stays on the trek are at Miriakamba and Saddle mountain huts, and the climb is led by a professional mountain guide with the required armed ranger escort inside the park.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Arusha

Meet our representative at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Arusha. The rest of the day is reserved for check-in, relaxation and recovery from your journey.

Day 2

Pre-climb Preparation and Trek to Miriakamba Hut

Complete a morning briefing, gear check and final preparation with your mountain guide. Continue to Momella Gate for registration, then trek through grassland and montane forest to Miriakamba Hut.

Day 3

Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut and Little Meru

Climb steadily through forest and giant-heather country toward Saddle Hut. After lunch and rest, take an acclimatization hike to Little Meru for broad views over the park and surrounding plains, then return to Saddle Hut for an early dinner and summit briefing.

Day 4

Socialist Peak Summit and Descent to Miriakamba

Begin before dawn and ascend past Rhino Point along Mount Meru’s narrow crater rim. Reach Socialist Peak at 4,565 metres around sunrise, weather permitting, for dramatic views of the ash cone, crater walls and distant Kilimanjaro. Descend to Saddle Hut for breakfast, then continue to Miriakamba Hut for the night.

Day 5

Miriakamba Hut to Momella Gate and Arusha

Enjoy a relaxed final descent through forest and open glades to Momella Gate. Meet your driver after completing park formalities and return to Arusha, where the Mount Meru climb concludes.
